2013 Ford Focus Manual Transmission Fluid Check
. 403 Answers SOURCE: the check engine light comes on for a problem to find out what problem you need to scan and read codes for example did you gas up and leave the car running this would code a p0440 evap system or the car runs rough you can have a p0300 misfire so you are asking if the transmission needs oil you would have to check the engine light is not design for that purpose so get it scanned or unplug the battery if you cant afford to test system and see if it comes back on Posted on Jan 07, 2011.
I used the 'Ford Juice' (Fords Syn Manual Transmision Fluid) in my SVT Focus with no issues. Had 150K on it when I sold it. Trans shifted same as the day I purchased it.That stuff was expensive. That was the only draw back.
Changed it at 100K.Same here, and even on my 07 ST used Ford Honey and shifts like a dream, now that I have the 07 and the 13 ST I will continue to use Ford fluid. Also to claim Ford uses crappy fluid, I disagree, typically if someone has issues with their tranismission it is due to their driving skill, not the fluid. FWIW, I doubt very much that Ford decided what lube to use in the transmission. They contracted with Getrag to develop the transmission, can't imagine that Getrag didn't spec the lube. Ford would have taken the requirements from Getrag and created a procurement spec and would have selected a supplier to provide it branded as a Ford product. Don't know who supplies the transmission fluid but Motorcraft motor oil currently is rebranded Kendall and the oil filters are rebranded Purolator.conoco phillips makes fords no?

TSB 11-11-1 MT82 MANUAL 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION COLD START SHIFT EFFORT - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 8/15/2011 Publication Date: November 3, 2011 FORD: 2011-2012 Mustang The article supersedes TSB 10-3-18 to add a production fix date. ISSUE: Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles equipped with a MT82 6-speed manual transmission built on or before may exhibit increased shift efforts in cold ambient temperatures. This is usually most noticeable in 1st and 2nd gears but may also be noticed in 3rd through 6th gears.
The increased shift effort may be the result of the increased viscosity of the transmission fluid in cold weather. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE Replace the Motorcraft® Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid with 2.6L (2.7 qt) of Motorcraft® Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-03A for the transmission fluid draining and filling procedure. This fluid is suitable for use in all ambient temperatures and seasons, and the Scheduled Maintenance guidelines in the Owner Guide can continue to be followed. The use of friction modifiers or other fluid additives is not recommended since although they may provide some immediate improvement in cold shift effort, they are likely to result in long term degradation of the synchronizers. 2002 Focus Manual Transmission Fluid
As far as getting attacked for simply asking if there is a full synthetic alternative from someone i trust more. I am also glad you have 8 years of focus experience and are a loyal company. My family business has 100 years (more like 600 combined over the years) with ford engineering. I would never own anything else except for a few select vehicles, but I would put Amsoil in my car anyday before Motorcraft oil, which is a good oil. I am simply looking for a better alternative if one becomes avaliable to maximize my investment. As far as generalizing fluid.all our cars take gas. Ours can run on 87, but most choose to run on 93.
Whats wrong with applying that mindset to all aspects of the car? Wasn't meaning to attack you, but just saying on the Focus specifically (SVT Getrag, SPI IB5 and Zetec/Duratec MTX-75) the same debate comes up trying to find a better fluid. Every time, the person is the happiest with the Ford fluid.
FWIW, I run Mobil 1 or better oil and won't be using Ford brake fluid or coolant, but with transmission fluid it seems Ford just does it right here. With you 100% on that. In the Getrag it seems that the Ford SYN works better than anything else.
Engine oil etc, i do not go with the Ford products. In my Mach1 I use all Royal Purple in everything.
Use it at work in the paper mill with great results in an awful environment.
